Doctors Care Centers Earn Urgent Care Certification
Doctors Care clinics throughout South Carolina have been designated Certified Urgent Care clinics, placing them among only a fraction of such facilities in the nation to be recognized for the range and quality of services offered.
The Urgent Care Association of America, a group representing more than 3,200 medical professionals, bestowed Doctors Care with the designation after a stringent review of the 44 clinics in South Carolina and Tennessee. The designation is a promise to patients that they can turn to Doctors Care to treat a range of illnesses and injuries and that they'll be able to find services such as X-rays and laboratory work on site.
"The designation really is a testimonial to what we've always believed at Doctors Care, Doctors Care," CEO Dr. Michael Stout said. "Our staff of experienced professionals is dedicated to providing the care people need, when they need it. The certification is proof of that."
In order to earn certification, an urgent care must accept patients of all ages, without appointments, for a broad spectrum of illness, injury and disease. The clinic must have equipment on site to handle a range of testing, so the patient who's in pain won't have to travel across town. The facilities must be open seven days a week and staffed by certified personnel during all hours of operation. The clinics also must meet guidelines covering exam rooms and waiting areas.
"We are pleased to say that Doctors Care meets all of these standards, and exceeds them in many cases," Stout said.
Besides offering fast help for sprains and pains in the case of an emergency, Doctors Care also can provide treatment for chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes. The clinics offer pre-employment health screening and annual sports physicals. Additionally, Doctors Care staff can serve as your family physician, for all your health needs.
In an age of concern about rising health costs, urgent care clinics provide affordable, convenient access to help without the lengthy waits that can characterize hospital emergency rooms, Stout noted.
"At Doctors Care, we pride ourselves at providing top-quality personal care in your neighborhood, Stout said. The official designation reiterates what we've been about since Doctors Care opened almost 30 years ago."
